Overview & FAQs
studysearch.com.au is a customised Google search engine developed for Australian Primary and Secondary school students.
studysearch.com.au uses the power of Google's search engine combined with a growing database of educational websites. When a search is done Google checks our database and gives those sites priority in the search results. The student is still doing a full Google search but the results are tuned to display sites that are more relevant.
An added level of protection
Whilst studysearch.com.au provides a full Google search, all search results have Google Safesearch activated. This provides a level of protection from inappropriate content. Should you find a site or Google advertisement in our search which you consider to be age inappropriate please notify us and we will block that content from the search results. (safesearch is not designed to replace any school or home internet content filters - appropriate internet safeguards should still be used)
Who contributes sites?
The sites in our database are contributed by Australian teachers, librarians and site volunteers. These sites are selected based on their content and ease of navigation. Anyone is welcome to suggest a site using the form on this site. (as a general rule commercial sites will not be included unless they provide an element of free educational content)
Is this a Google site?
No, studysearch.com.au is operated by an independent group that utilises the Google custom search engine.
